Living and working in the Southern Highlands of NSW, artist James King is inspired by the "beautiful patina and canvas-like quality' of discarded hardback books, as well as the stories within."I enjoy creating deliberate obscurity or links between book title and subject matter," he says.
"Country shacks, people at work, children at play and mysterious figures in landscapes form the basis of my imagery, while discarded books form a canvas for my more intimate paintings."
