Undertaken as the first stage of the refurbishment to the Carlton Public Housing Estate Site Image Landscape Architects, in co-operation with the Living Carlton Consortium, has designed a community garden to cater for the demand & popularity of gardening by the residents and in response to the residents committee call for a green space that would bring the diverse community of the public housing estate together.

The garden was incorporated into the landscape masterplan and the resulting site consists of both individual and communal plots. The space reinforces the community garden philosophy, adds to the diversity to the existing urban environment and has successfully created a sense of place for the residents.

The garden was also designed to provide an aesthetic benchmark from which all other works on the Estate may follow.
