When architect Jane Stanham and her husband bought this three-tiered property in 2001, it was divided into three flats with very basic kitchen and bathroom amenities on each floor.

The single most effective way a person can save water is to first decide to do so and then change behaviour accordingly. The next best thing is to install water-efficient fixtures and equipment in your house, but after that it all becomes a little hazy.
