The People's Market returns

The People's Market returns

Opening December 1 in Melbourne’s North, The People’s Market returns for Summer 2012-13 bringing its signature “everything goes” experience to Collingwood. From December to April, The People’s Market combines the talents of some of Melbourne’s most recognised names in hospitality, art and retail to create a stimulating ‘perfect storm’ of summertime entertainment.

The People’s Market’s 2012 configuration was designed by young, local architects Kristina Taranto and Steven Vidovic, with a vision of sustainability at its core. The pair won a competition to design the space, once a disused car lot. Using shipping containers, found objects and recycled materials they have created a space to fit the theme of a Recycled Garden.

Don’t be fooled by the name - The People’s Market is more than a market. Bringing heavy-hitters like MoVida Bakery and Hellenic Republic together with newcomers, Rockwell and Sons and Phat Brats demonstrates the variety of culinary experience The People’s Market is set to offer Melbourne. Tapping into local creative talent, COMA (Containers of Modern Art) invites local artists including Ghost Patrol, TWOONE, Meggs and many others to exhibit.

The PM (as it is affectionately known) encompasses entertainment, retail, food, alcohol, workshops, yoga, art, music and market. These are broken into the 9 key experiences:
- Food
- Bakery & Coffee
- Outdoor Bar
- COMA (Containers of Modern Art)
- Retail
- Saturday Market
- Workshops
- Morning Yoga
- Music

Each month sees a complete change over of vendors, artists and performers at The PM, ensuring each visit is a fresh experience. In a nutshell, you would be mad not to visit The PM this summer.
